Gio Yáñez
I earned my Degree in Jazz Guitar from ESMAE (Porto) and have studied with masters like Marcos Pin, Paco Charlín, and Nuno Ferreira or Michael Lauren, receiving multiple scholarships along the way.
I’ve performed with outstanding musicians such as Cristian Cuturrufo, Javier Colina, Jens Larsen, Eladio Díaz, and Marcel Pascual, and played at festivals across Europe and beyond. As a composer, I’ve released two acclaimed albums: Zero Point Energy and Zink Tank.
I’m passionate about making jazz accessible to musicians around the world, especially through my YouTube channel and global online teaching platform.
Teaching is my true calling, and I founded La Casa del Jazz, the first jazz school in León, which later evolved into a global online platform, offering lessons to guitarists worldwide and helping them develop their jazz skills and artistic voice.
I’m co-founder and musical director of Km 251, a jazz festival in northern Spain. I also teach every summer in Semana del Jazz de Candás, an improvisation seminar in Asturias that has been running for over 10 years.
I teach guitarists from all around the world, from North America to Europe, sharing my expertise in jazz improvisation.
